How we do SEO

That’s a very hard question to answer. We of course can give you the typical SEO agency spiel and tell you that we work on a very white hat basis to ensure that you aren’t penalised, which of course would be true.

There are over 200 ranking signals which search engines use to determine where your website should rank for your specific targeted terms, so there’s a lot to contend with and navigate your way through. Search is diverse though, and no one thing will work across every client, it takes time and hard work to see the traffic rolling in, but we’ll get you there.

What we do different however is, we don’t jump straight to link building, if you search “SEO consultants” then the first few pages you will see will be all about trying to increase your link profile. The reason for this is that it’s the quickest win, but it’s not a long term strategy and everyone who promises you an abundance of links isn’t looking out for your best interests. We aren’t saying we won’t build links, but we have a much more content first & technical sound approach, so if you’re after some “churn & burn” links which will see you succeed for a short period of time then we’re probably not right for you.

  • User Signals

    Click through rate in search results, a lower bounce rate and a higher average time spent on page can all be a factor in how Google ranks your page for specific terms. This is one of the ways in which they determine if your user intent is correct.

  • Content

    Content is king, you’ve probably heard that before. It’s true though, if you get your content right and it answers the users query then you’re right on the money. It can be hard to compete with just good content alone, but it goes a long way.

  • Technical Factors

    From your basic meta titles to optimising crawl budget. Technical is the single most important thing to get right. Google is a bot that crawls your website, there’s no human element, so you need to optimise the site to help that bot understand. 

  • User Experience

    Search engines are making strides in this area, they are constantly working on trying to better understand if sites offer a good user experience. Why do you think there has been such a focus on mobile optimisation? 

  • Backlinks

    There still a major factor in ranking improvements, but less and less so over the years. Getting backlinks from high authority sites is always the go to, but having a good base of backlinks is important too, from directories to forums all the way to national publications. It needs to be varied.

  • Social Signals

    There’s no proof that social signals have an impact on SEO directly, but they have an impact on Google believing you are a legitimate business so you should always look to try and raise your social profile.
